Mount Money on Leased Horse- Wrong?

I want to half lease out one of my barrel mares. If I was doing a full lease and this person was paying her full board, feed, insurance, shoes, vet, etc. I would not ask for it...but if they are just doing a half lease and still running my mare would it be wrong of me to ask for mount money if they win anything while using her?

I think if you were going to ask for a percentage of any winnings, you'd need to contribute towards entry fees. Maybe do everything 50/50; board, feed, etc...entry fees and winnings? Just a thought...I am not too familiar with this situation.

Depends totally on the lease and what you're doing with the mare as well IMO.
are you still running her? Riding her?
Who is paying for vet and shoes?
If everything is 50-50 and you're still competing on her too then no, I think you both pay your fees and keep your winnings.
Typically in a mount fee situation the rider doesn't have other money outside of entries invested in the horse IMO, at least in my experience.

I've seen jockeys pay mount money and I've seen jockeys pay to lease a horse. I've never heard of them having to pay both. I'd choose one or the other.
If I was the jockey I'd pass on the horse if required to pay both.

okay, thanks y'all. I have never half-leased a performance horse to anyone and would not be running her during this time. I think I am just going to full lease her and the leasee is responsible for all board/feed/vet/etc and will pay their own fees and keep all winnings.
Thanks for your help!
