It's been quite a number of years since i owned a mare and the mare i had not only looked like a gelding, she acted like one!! Lol never knew she was in heat really and never gave a fuss. My new mare is definitely a mare lol she is the queen bee. I also have 2 geldings. When I brought her home they all kind of sniffed nothing major. Put them all away in their pens and my colt trotted up to her and she gave a squeel, pinned her ears and let him know she was boss. My other gelding could care less lol my question, anything else I should watch for !? Will it take just a few days for them to all get situated?? Thanks!! Next task will be hauling order. Lol

Typical mare..

I figured !! And it's probably a good thing she is the ONLY mare. She is the first "finished" barrel horse I have ever bought. I usually train my own from babies but i am kind of over babies. She is a super nice competitive barrel and rope horse. She gives 100000000 percent every run. Lol

I love mares. We have 4 in the barn, 2 have attitudes, other 2 not so much. I think they are grittier if they have a little bit of attitude. She will probably put the boys in their place and it will be done and over with!

My 5 year old geld off the track usually tries to mess with and nip any horses you pony off him. Old track habit. lol I have worked for 2 years on that sucker working on respect for other horses. He is just a KID. I have been waiting for him to grow up. Well, he grew up in about 3 minutes tonight when I rode!!! LOL I led the new mare and he kind of tried his thing ONE TIME and he just pinned her ears and almost nipped him back and from then on he was an ANGEL. lol just tucked his head and never even looked at her!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!

I am working deal right now for the first mare that I have owned in a long time.  My nephew said 'don't do it', but I like her.  Seller says she is not mareish  at all and I sure hoping she is being honest with me.  I am crossing my fingers.

I sold a mare that was never marish; however she was not alpha here I had a big bad mare that would not tolerate even the slightest bit of attitude. That mare went to place with a couple geldings and now she is a pig. she is mean mean mean. sometimes it is the dynamics

Oh no. My granddaughter has a mare that she heels and ties goats on that might have to come visit occasionally to teach a few lessons. That mare is definitely the pasture queen.
