I had a horse fracture its coffin bone in March. The back left. Originally they said the joint space wasn't affected. Today x rays showed the joint space has been affected. Was wondering if I could get any other opinions on this. She's in a bar shoe and has been since it happened. Had 4 months stall rest and then to a small turn out.

Take your horse to a good lameness vet and get their opinion, it wont hurt to go to another vet for a second opinion, hope it all works out

I was trying to get the x rays to post but they won't. My vet is very good and she suggested I give her another 6 months to a year off, then inject the joint and see what we've got. She is just slightly off on that foot. She recommended I go ahead and breed her if I wanted to. She kind of acted like her barrel racing days should be over.

I am not a vet, but my vet would have injected the joint at time of injury to reduce inflammation. I would have opted for generic stem cells to be injected into the fracture to speed up the healing.
If this was my horse now, I would get a second opinion and inject in hopes it will prevent any more degeneration from occuring
