Ok i'm a huge skeptic of fed throughs. I go with the most cost effective option and have tried every single popular supplement THE, AE, oxygen, and such at one time or another. Each has their place with different programs IMO.

I'm very intrigued and curious about these new supplements such as Mushroom Matrix and CurOst products that contain mushrooms. Now I know how marketing goes and the claims made and blah blah blah but I have seen results from some reining and cutting friends on horses that they were constantly having to do treatment doses of ulcer guard on, but since starting these supplements they have saved money because they haven't had to keep spending it in ulcer guard. These supplements are very spendy but I'm intrigued by them.

So please post before and afters, give your experience, do you know someone shelling out the bucks for it etc.

I like the whole concept about reducing inflammation...

I have fed the Mushroom Matrix ECP. I know the founder of the company and when I worked at Mary's Tack and Feed he gave us as employees one on one training. I will be the first to admit I was skeptical. BUT, last August I moved my stud to my house. He didn't settle and was pacing like no other. It was so bad I was ready to geld him so he could have a buddy. But, I called Chris at Mushroom Matrix and talked to him about the issues. I bought the ECP and fed the 45 day supply. I double dosed him the first 7 days, then regular doses for the remainder. I can tell you he calmed down, didn't get frazzled, and I honestly had some of his best riding training sessions while he was on it. The ECP has also shows in scopes to reduce ulcers.

I know for a fact many of the olympic dressage and show jumping horses are on the ECP for focus. Stephen Peters is a HUGE endorser of the product. Chris is great to talk to. I can give you his number if you'd like to speak with him.

I have a gelding currently that is a little scared of things. I will be putting him on the ECP this summer so when we start to show, he'll be able to focus on me and not his surroundings. Hope this helps...

ETA: I know people that have fed the MRM (recovery) too and it has really helped in healing time of tendon issues.

Thank TwistedK! I actually really got interested in them by hearing an upper level eventer talk about them in the waiting room at rood and riddle. We had a lengthy conversation about them and then when I asked the Dr. he laughed and said I don't endorse anything that doesn't pay me money. He was joking but basically he said he only recommends Osphos, adequan, and legend because they make his house payments LOL The ones I'm most interested in are the MRM and the Focus from the matrix company. I'm also looking at the supplements from nouvelle research.

MRM is great. The ECP is the one I fed for the focus and can tell you from experience I wouldn't hesitate to put any of mine back on it

You do any research on mushrooms and there is very little nutritional value. Basically only flavor.

Reasearch curcurmin and you'll find so many benefits to eating the spice (for humans, equine, canine, etc.) it will make your head spin.  As a last ditch effort I contacted Dr. Schell and he explained to me how and why the curcurmin is effective and why it's effective, basically eliminating the inflammation that begins in the digestive tract, mainly the intestine, resulting in a hyper active immune response causing other inflammatory responses withing the body.  These can be seen in allergies, respiratory problems, inflammation in joints, ulcers, etc.  I did additional research before I bought in, but i'm sure glad I did!  I went from a very sick, allergic, heav-y COPD horse who had seen three different vets, prescribed 8cc of ventipulmin a day, plus dexamethasone, had a prednisone injection, two rounds of anti-biotics, last vet wanted to do surgery, to a horse that is about 90% in less than 30 days.  Not to mention what how he changed physically during this time.  I've gone into more detail in a few other threads, so ya'll will have to forgive me, this is my first day back amongst the living since having the stomach flu.  Search my screen name, and you'll find the full story on my horse.  I'll attach pics here.  The first pic was March 23, the second pic is April 25.  Proof is in the pudding for me.....and I had literally tried EVERYTHING and can tell you what supplements he was on during the time he got sick!  In less than 30 days, I have a horse I have started back riding and legging back up to go run and i'm so thankful I contacted Dr. Schell and tried the Cur-Ost.  I too have tried all the others at some point.  No comparison whatsoever.

I am looking at Equine Matrix "Metabolic Matrix" and Cur-Ost "Meta-Support". Would love to hear any thoughts, comments, information or first-hand experience with either of these products.

All my horses are on Cur-OST. I recently made year comparison photos....I originally started Cur-OST for 1 of my horses with allergies, Fancy, she is on Total and Immune. I then had to try it on the rest to make sure I wasn't just hoping it to work (everyone else is on Total, and some have Adapt and Calm added) .....proof is in the pics...and of course performance!
