I like the sound of this! Those that dislike equal payouts have plenty of other places to run. By paying equally it will draw in more 2/3/4D riders, and that makes the pot bigger for everyone.

I may be mistaken but I don't think it was equal payout. I believe that dusty and Bailey Gilder wanted to put on a bigger money show that was local for most people with a chance at a great payout. I believe they did a great job and hope they can continue. We are in an area that is hard to get sponsors and are not flooded with a lot of great arenas!

Maybe you should include the producers in on this and they can give their insight to the hows and the whys. :
) They may be onto something big. I was unable to attend either race, but I am so glad people are paying attention to them. The pay out looked great, and the competition is there for sure!!! I want to try and make 1 next year, if they have them.
As far as equal payout - the 2 3 and 4d riders pay the same entry fee knowing they are gambling with their money and adding to the overall pot. I could care less if the 3d 1st place rider wins more than the 4th place 2d rider. Everyone is still working hard to get something, anything. I know when I go to a 3 day show I am gambling every time because I don't have the TRUE 1d super horse. I barrel race because I love it, and I don't focus on the money. If I did, I wouldn't be doing this and I wouldn't broke all the time. LOL Seriously though, I totally understand and respect the progressive pay rider's way of thinking, it is a horse race. The majority of races
(at least in our area
) are all equal not progressive so that leaves little to go to if you decide you don't like it.
The key to this for us is low overhead and a $5 processing fee per rider. Like someone said earlier, we make the same with a $25 entry fee at 80% payback as we do with the $100 entry fee at 95% payback. All the money is made off of the trainers and we also have an adult and youth class that is a $25 ef at 80% payback. We definitely can't go rent an expensive indoor arena but outdoors are do able. We don't make a killing but it's worth our time for sure. All of the added money does have to be sponsored though.

You are correct, it's not equal payout. We go off of BBR rules and payout suggestions.
You are also right about sponsors, they are hard to come by in our area.
