Location: southeast Texas | have you tried your horses on the golden paste?
A while back on one of the posts you were thinking about trying it.
Ive started my horse on it, last week, and at this time am impressed with the results.
My horse is a wuss. To make a long story short, he would not back strait. Was fussing with me. Farrier mentioned it was time to get him injected again.
After one week on golden past, is now backing strait. Wanting to make nice stops. Nice and soft in his loping departures.

Location: Bastrop, Texas | Yes, we've been giving it to our horses, and I can only say that I have a feeling it's a good thing. The reason I word it that way is because we don't really have any vexing health issues going on with any of our horses right now. I also take it twice a day myself both because of my various aches and pains, as well as my chronic leukemia. I seem to have less back pain while I'm taking it regularly, but of course that doesn't prove anything. I have a Rottie who has had wrist soreness, possibly from OCD, and she gets it too. Again, she seems to feel better when she's taking it. So, back to the question of whether or not it's good for horses, I don't know for sure, because in ours it's more of a preventative/maintenance measure. Does that make sense?
The thing to keep in mind is that the stuff is dirt cheap and it's safe. That makes for a very favorable risk/reward profile. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | Sorry...the picture was too large. Here's the recipe. It's a snap.
1/2 c pure turmeric powder (I buy bulk, organic)
1-2 c water
Simmer for 7-10 minutes. May add water to desired consistency.
Remove from heat and stir in 1/3 c coconut oil (or olive) and add 1.5 tsp FRESH ground black pepper.
Keep in a jar and refrigerate. You can freeze excess. Be careful because that stuff can stain anything....clothes, counter tops, etc....
Recommended starting doses:
Humans - 1/4 to 1/2 tsp twice daily.
Dogs/cats - 1/8 - 1/4 tsp twice daily.
Horses - 1 tsp twice daily.
You can increase the amounts incrementally. There's no good hard and fast rule for max amounts. I take 1 tsp twice daily, for example. We only give the horses once a day, but we give them a tablespoon mixed with feed. They might be a little fussy about it at first, but eventually they eat it up just fine. Their muzzles get a little orange!
Ideally twice daily is better, because it has a half life of about 4 hours. I don't know why in the world it has to be refrigerated, but that's what they keep telling me. It's a nuisance to have to bring it out to the barn everytime we feed. |

| I give it to my horses, like Bear, no real issues but I have seen good improvement in my arthritic lab. |

Location: southeast Texas | I've been giving it to my horse twice a day. Ive frozen the paste in little 1/4 teaspoon amounts. It doesn't take long for them to defrost. Add that to soaked alfalfa cube and make a much. For a fussy horse he took right to it after th initial nose curling.
