 Am I really the Weirdo?

Location: Kansas | Nothing makes me feel better than seeing someone else excel on a horse I trained, and I got to see it this week with my gray horse, Chance. A friend of mine had entered the American Royal Youth Rodeo way back in July, only to have her horse come up crippled last week. I offered Chance for a later rodeo finals, and ended up loaning him to her for the Royal on Tuesday. We had plans for her to ride him around the house and go somewhere to lope through the pattern on him Monday night, but life happened and the first time she got on him was Tuesday morning in KC. Still, they ran the second-fastest time of the Tuesday performance and wound up 7th out of 70-some barrel racers in the senior division. There were some bobbles and things we all agree could have been better, but I'm pretty impressed with both horse and rider. This is a horse I bought just barely started on the pattern 10 years ago, finished and seasoned myself, and she's only the 4th person to ever run barrels on him since I've owned him. Location: Kansas | Definitely a proud mama!!! I was a nervous wreck waiting to hear! She may ride him again in November since I will not qualify but she's in the top end and is definitely going to make it, and I think they will do very well there. Hopefully we can get them another run or two before then. |
