When we bought my daughters horse, they sent his bits with him.  I like one of them but he runs through it when we send him hard.  The other one works to check him at the first barrel but everyone once in a while he panics when he hits it. The picture shows the shank but the mouth piece looks like the other one.   I am not a fan of this bit at all but want to know what it is and possible other options that work similar to this.  Suggestions? TIA!

I don't know what it is called but I almost bet he doesn't like the port in the middle. I would see if you could find that with a twisted 3 piece.

I have a bit exactly like this and it's called a Rosie Gag 1/4" Sweet Iron Ported Bradoon Bit. "A low leverage gag excellent for horses with a lot of natural rate. An excellent mouthpiece for lifting your horse's head and tucking his head at the same time. 6" Cheeks, 5" Mouth"
Found the bit on this page.
