Location: Wherever They Send Me | It seems I have hay on the brain today...anyway...My 24 year old eats hay really slowly and Im thinking about getting him a hay net to help prevent waste. I saw that a lot of you recommend Hay Chix. I was gonna get the heavy duty one (in my mind it will hold up to heat better) that will hold a whole bale. Do you guys tie them to the fence to keep them off the ground or just put them on the ground? |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | We use a hay ring made safe for horses. I just bought a new one. My last one lasted 3 yrs 24/7 year round. We have a crappy tractor, so we just bring the bale in with it and put it on the ground. I toss the net over and pull it down and pull it tight around the bale at the bottom. Then we cut the twine and last put the bale feeder over the hay/net. Works great. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | oh if you are talking about the ones for small squares? I have one but haven't used it yet. I was thinking it might hold up better if tied to something but then I worried one might get tangled in it. |

| I use the heavy duty hay chix net for my chronic choker horse. Its made to hold around half a bale, I stuff it full of grass hay an it lasts him over hours. I hang mine on the rail of the coral panel, not high up but enough where he can't paw at it. Been using it for past 2 years and before that I had a smaller one, from same company. I love them ! |

| We have been talking about making wooden hay bunks the size of a bale and getting the whole small bake hay chix nets for this winter so they can get at the top of the bale and eat whenever they want to
I really like the slow feed/continual feed concept for things like colic and choke prevention. |

I love mine. I have the original full square bale feeder, if i purchase another one I will get the heavy duty because my guys are very aggressive eaters. I throw mine in an old water barrel and then tie it off to the fence. I left mine on the ground for about 30 minutes when I first got it and my little brat got 3 out of 4 shoes caught in it, so I had to cut him out and mend the net.

| We use the Nag Bag full bale feeders and they hold up REALLY well. Whole bale fits easily, tie it up, cut the string and then just put it in their stall.
My friend ties hers up, I just put mine on the ground but my horse doesnt bother things like some do. |

Location: Where the long tails flow, ND | If you do put it on the ground, make sure your horse doesn't have shoes on, or blankets. I've had mine stuck by their shoes and blankets a few times. Super scary! So I quit using mine until I get a ring or something to keep it up and away from them. |

Location: Jersey Girl | I have a slow feed bale net (not hay chix) that I have used for about a year now. It was only $30.
I put the entire bale in my hay feeder (the aluminum ones with hay bunk) and attach it so they can't pull it out. One bale lasts my 2 horses almost 2 days.

Location: The best kept secret in TX | We have a stand up bale feeder and put the whole bale in the top of the feeder with a hay net over it. I've never used the Hay Chix one. I just but the cheap ones. This is like the bale feeder we have. Our feeder is all galvanized and taller.
