I've been through the ringer. Had my heart horse that LOVED running. When i went off to college and wasn't running much anymore, decided he would be happier with someone who would run him consistently. The gal bought him and stuck him in a stall to rot. Meanwhile i buy a 3 year old mare to give me something to mess with only to find out when summer hit that she has a horrible case of COPD. Bought a real fancy broke paint gelding who broke in two about every couple weeks. Passed both on to some nice people disclosing all issues. Asked to buy my heart horse back and the lady wouldn't budge. Ended up purchasing a barrel gelding that was supposedly kid safe and sound...neither of those were true. Several lamesness issues made him obviously barrel sour being ran lame. Well i didn't know....but when he flipped over on me in a warmup pen i found out quick. Found a non-barrel home for him. Well I finally bought my heart horse back, had to pay more for him than i sold him for even though he hadn't been ridden in over a year. Was legging him back up and something just wasn't right. Vet checked, now retired. It was enough to be done...a few months went by and found a young gelding that seemed nice, nice papers. Vet checked clean so I bought him and sent him to my trainer. Everything was going great before I sent him, I was doing well with him even though he's quirky. Now for some reason since i haven't ridden him in a while, I was super timid on him when i went to visit him at the trainer. He's come so far and turning into a nice colt but for some reason I'm hella nervous on him now. He's young quirky, and idk i guess i just know what he's capable of and worried I'll get the boot. My confidence has been shot to hell and back. Even if i sold him, i honestly don't want to go through trying to buy another horse and ending up with someones trash they sold as a saint. I would need something that would let me take it easy for a bit before hauling and running again and thats just impossible to find these days. #overthebarrelworld. Word of advice, vet check and research guys because people you may trust are flat out TERRIBLE.

Oh wow, sorry you have had such a run of bad luck! I always research the heck out of the sellers and also the horse. Use the internet and best of all, word of mouth of friends you trust. Then research what they tell you. On a positive note, it sounds as if all the horses were better off after you had them than before since you found them homes much better suited to them.
