| I have an older gelding(15) and I have an allen ranch on their original tree. It is a wide and it sits to far down on my gelding. Stanley said I needed a 6.5. I brought two home....one was allen ranch on a talmadge green tree and the other was allen ranch flex tree. I loved the flex tree...the feel and such but......all of these saddles are leaving dry spots right behind the shoulders....same spot and size on each side....about the size of my palm. I have heard the spots are nothing to worry about and I have heard there should not be dry spots? Help Thank you in advance! |

Thank you! I have dry spots with just my original allen ranch also. All 3 saddles I have tried have left the dry spots....in the very same place on both sides...looks like twin spots! |

Location: Southern Indiana | I would love to pull my saddle and see even sweat marks but a person could go through thousands of saddles and pads and never get that. I believe if a saddle is fitting good, no soreness, and no ruffled hair then dry spots are a normal thing! Ruffled hair and small spots are what I have always learned to be signs of problems. If dry spots are about the size of the front bar of a saddle that would be an indication of even fit. |

I agree with this, I have a mare that always has two dry spots on her shoulder with the wider tree or the 6.5, but the bars on both saddles fit her perfectly and she's never back or shoulder sore. I do put small oval shims when I ride The wider saddle on her that seems to fill in a tiny gap.
Some say sweat marks are a hoax, some firmly believe, i say listen to your horse and chiropractor. With experience you'll be able
To tell what fits well and what doesn't. |

| If your horse is downhill you will also likely always have dry spots behind the withers. It is just the nature of the beast. |
