Scheduled for surgery in a couple of days to repair a large tear
in the tendon on the front of the shoulder and a small
Tear in the biceps tendon. Due to insurance making me have all the conservative treatments before they would approve surgery, I have already been out 3 months. Since training and riding are part of my
Income, I need to find out if anyone has had similar surgery and how long it was before you were able to ride and compete again?

I had rotator surgery last July (23rd). I was back on horses helping bring cattle home 3 weeks later. I was not riding colts...I was on very broke horses. I did not have to be opened up though, mine was done laparoscopic. I would imagine it depends on the severity of your injury and how much the doc has to do when he gets in there.

I didn't start roping again until October. I kept icing my shoulder after hard use throughout the fall. Make sure you are diligent with your physical therapy. I was always getting warned not to do too much. I am glad I had it done, I have my strength back and can sleep at night again. Good luck!

I had surgery on March 31st. Repaired a pretty major slap tear, re-attach biep anchor and locate the the bicep tendon and put back in place.   I had gone thru all the shots and physical therapy the insurace required.  So i had also been unable to ride for a few months. Riding just was not an option for me after chores and all the maintenace stuff around my place.  I was hand walking my girls by the end of April.  They had a 10week delay in getting my after surgery PT in place.  I had purchased all the exercise bands and a ball to work on at home.  I started getting back on my really broke gals mid to late May...   Actually exhibitioned the first week of July.  Post surgery PT ended up being very short cause i was already way ahead of them.   Best of luck with yours and Prayers for a speedy recovery..
