I think one of my indoor cats has ringworm right above his eye. Is there anything over the counter I can treat him with? I will take him to the vet if need be, I just wondered if there was anything OTC I could use.

Thanks for any info!

Sure is a lot of times we would just tell call in at clinic to go get some Lamasil for foot OTC . I also have used while bathing them Chlorihexiderm bath let sit for a few.. Don't let them lick of course. and then rinse well. I had kittens I rescued and did it this way and then dried and applied Lamisil . I also got some ring worm pink spray from mill and spot sprayed too. It was gone in less then a week. If you get it on you take a cotton ball of bleach and put it on it. Let it set for 1-2 minutes then rinse. It kills it. If by chance you do that on cat Please know it can burn them and tongue badly if they lick and you have to rinse it off The other way is better.
Hope this helps

Just a thought. Vetericyn? Since you can spray directly in eye you wouldn't have to worry about getting other medication in eye. I did a search and found a woman who had 3 lesions. Did Dr's prescription on two and Vetericyn on one and it healed faster than prescription.

Another good one is Lamisil for Athletes foot. Any thing that will fight fungas is good for ringworm since its fungal.

Thanks again for the replies. I started using a monastat (sp?) cream yesterday, if that doesn't work, I'll try some of the other ideas. I'm just hoping to keep something on it long enough to heal it, I hope he won't need a "cone of shame" to keep him from messing with it.

The way we treat ringworm is with lime-sulfur dips. It smells bad but it really works. Most animals at shelters get euthanized over ringworm due to how contagious it is, but for certain animals that have foster homes lined up willing to treat it, we treat with lime-sulfur.

I'm picturing your male cat having to use vaginal yeast cream and on top of that the horrible "necklace"----it puts a grin on my face even tho I feel sorry for him!

The "monastat" is working! I'm not REALLY sure it was ringworm if it healed THIS quick but whatever it is, it's really clearing up!
