NFR VEGAS 2016
BHW's Lil Twirp
I watched and cannot even imagine what it feels like to run in the T & M like those incredbile riders. The pressure they must feel and coming down the alley for the 1st
(or tenth
) time has to be MIND BLOWING. The ground is HORRIBLE -- why can they not get it together? Someone who qualifed for the NFR a few times
(in roping
) told me this week that Shawn Davis owns the dirt and keeps it in boxes stored in Vegas. The problem is
(I was told
) it holds no moisutre. They need to drag and put some water on it!
WOW we can all play Monday AM Quarter Back but a 13 second run!!! There is a LOT Of repetitive motion of PERFECT habits you have to do in 13/14 seconds. Besides the ground being cruddy - you dont see the 1st until you are upon it. I hear them say you have to "drive" all the way to 2nd that visually its misleading. I am sure those yellow walls approach you at Mach .10
After looking at Ivy's run 20 times -
Ivy stopped kicking and set her body up to make the turn about a stride too quickly. When Ivy set, "Tibbie" turned early and they popped 2nd. Just like at the American Ivy was still one handed in her turn and she was leaning slightly in her body postion to the left and was soaking in the nanosecond of what just happened - and mentally that it happened at the first round of the biggest barrel race of her life. She is 21 years old -- its POLARIZING!
I look forward to watching the next 9 nights and seeing all the jitters out of everyones system.
I loved watching the "Veteran Marys" ... Mary Burger & Mary Walker. Also I cannot mention "Veteran" without mentioning Jackie Ganter riding "Recent Release" / "R" who is 19 years YOUNG! He looked amazing!! I have always loved him and watching him is such a treat.
I heard she called Kristi Schiller about him and he was not for sale becuase her little girl was riding him. Then her daughter agreed that Jackie needed him more. The rest is history and hopefuilly they make history as well togeher this week. I hope every contestant has fun trying!
