I love it!!! He's definitely not a retiree at that "old" age

He might be the oldest this year, but he's not the oldest to ever run down that alley. Marlene McCrae rode a 20 something gelding there one year.

I think it's wonderful that those horses get such amazing care that the longevity of their careers just keep going at the highest level.

 Recent Release is not the oldest horse to run down the alley at the T&M. I can tell you since 1991 that honor would go to Mr Wonderful of the Myllymaki's who ran with both Rachel and Judy at the age of 21(1998), 22(1999), and 23(2000). Other 18 year olds to run are Sparky Impression with Molly Powell in 2007 and Jackfork Billie with Christina Richman in 2012.
