Until we add on to the house in a year or 2 we don't have a lot of room. I'd like to invest in a piece of cardio equipment to keep moving for the winter, ideally something of a whole body workout.

I've been eye balling this little bad boy, but I'm not sure it'll be enough of a workout for someone already in decent shape? The price point is right to buy it and try it out though. https://www.amazon.com/Stamina-In-Motion-Elliptical-Trainer/dp/B00AQ...

Any other suggestions for something that won't take up much more space than a recliner? Preferably easy to move out of the way?

I would skip the equipment all together and go with PIYO, Yoga, weights.  Also check out Danette May.  She has some quick workouts that will kick your butt.
You can also check out Yoga Meltdown.  It has yoga type moves, only faster.
I have a very small house and no room for exercise equipment.
edited to add:  I have been doing some reading on weight lifting and kettle balls are great for cardio.  I have a 15 pound kettle ball that I just started using.  It is a workout!

I've tried stuff like that before, i am officially the most uncoordinated person and just end up frustrated that I can't follow along, i end up hating it and not doing it - wasted a lot of money on stuff like that in my life already.

I'm much better if I can just get on a piece of equipment and go.

Plus we have 1 TV in the house and whatever I get will go pretty much in the same room. By the time we get inside at night and fed dinner we only have an hour or 90 minutes before we go to bed, not much time to spend together, so I'd like to be able to combine some cardio while we watch tv together.

Edited to add - agree about the kettlebell and weights, i will probably add those in eventually, but looking mostly for cardio alone right now.

I know that none of this is what you asked for, but I hope you find it helpful.  There is also a lot of kettle bell workouts online.

yeah, not trying to be difficult but since we don't have Internet at home online workout videos aren't a good option, they just suck up our cell data and make me even more ticked off because I'm trying to see something on a tiny phone screen (yes I know I can probably hook my phone up to the tv, but that goes back to the same I am uncoordinated at workout videos and we have 1 TV and limited time to relax and watch it).

I personally wouldn't even allow myself anywhere near that type of elliptical because I would fall and break something. Have you thought about just researching workouts that require body weight only? It's so easy to get a full body workout without spending the money on weights, equipment, etc.

Been there done that and don't like them/lose motivation to do them.

Sorry, but I know what I'm after.

I don't really think that machine would be that much of a workout unless you stood up on it... and even then it might not.  I bought a similar-ish little exercise bike thing for under my desk and did not feel that it was much of a workout considering I was already in good shape.  I love my eliptical at home and feel that the big part that gets my blood pumping is the larger sweeping movements with my legs and arms.  My eliptical is huge and old but still fits in my tiny barn apartment... maybe they have smaller ones now that wouldn't take up so much room.

LOL. No worries .  For some reason your post didn't show up when I posted the second time.  :)

I was a gym rat for years - even worked at gyms part time, did power lifting, etc. when I got married I realized I wasn't going to forego evening time with hubby to go to the gym (and he certainly wasnt going to start going to the gym :-). So I looked for a home elliptical. I bought a Proform Comfort Stride from Dicks because it was cheap and it has a rear flywheel, which I always felt gave a better lower body workout.  I fully intended to buy a better elliptical when I had more money, but let me tell you I LOVE that thing. It's an ass kicker. I've had it for 8 years now and I can barely do above level 7 of the 12. It has great workouts. It's quiet. Has a small footprint for an elliptical, and it's easy to pick up and roll out of the way or into another room (there's wheels on the front). Even my friend who still works out hardcore in a gym with a personal trainer is amazed at how great of a workout this little elliptical gives her.

Yep, you're suppose to stand up on it, engages the core through balance as well. I don't expect it to be the most ass kicking workout ever.

To the last poster who mentioned a specific elliptical - thanks I'll look it up!

I got bored with an elliptical... prefer a treamill for some reason!  I can run or walk and change the incline depending on what I'm in the mood to do.  Mine folds up.

My knees find the elliptical much more friendly. I've tried taking up jogging/running several times over the years using different programs to work up to distance, professionally fitted shoes etc, and had the same results of crippling myself for weeks at some point.

I got the go ahead to shop for Christmas, need to do some thinking and get creative with furniture so something will fit.

Heavy weights would be my recommendation. Find a program where you lift at least 3 days a week and throw in 2 days of cardio, follow both with some good stretching programs and there you go.

I have a weight program etc through a friend who is a personal trainer - just working on the cardio piece and looking for recommendations for a small space :)

I have a rowing machine and love it.  Just put my earbuds in and go.  It doesn't take up very much space.

I have an Xbike. Folds up real small. Use it more than anything else.
