I'll admit that I can be really OCD about things and I am a planner to the extreme- I always try to have all studs booked WAY in advance (usually paid in full and all paperwork submitted right after thanksgiving or maybe after NFR at the latest). So if I'm overreacting, please tell me.

I'm a little frustrated with the lack of communication from one of the stallion owners this year. I've submitted all of my mare's info, including progeny reports, etc. in order for her to be approved by the stallion owner. I requested a contract on December 7. On the 17th, I got a short reply asking again for information that I had already submitted, so I again emailed my mare's details. Haven't heard anything back from them...

How long would you wait before you moved on to another stallion choice? Would you ask for an update? Do I need to calm down and give them time to get through the holidays? This stallion is NOT cheap and has a limited book... I'm ready to get everything squared away so I don't have to worry about it anymore. What to do?

I'd be gone.  If they don't want my money bad enough to follow through, I'd be gone in a heartbeat.  There are too many good stallion owners out there, I'm not gonna waste my time with the bad ones.

Thanks- I'm glad it's not just me. It frustrates me because I had my heart set on this stud... now trying to determine my backup plan. Thanks for the input.

Mmm, so it took them 10 days too not reading your information yet requesting more information... and another 8 or so days without any communication... yea, I'd be long gone also.
Sorry you didn't get the one you wanted, but there are so many nice stallions out there that you are bound to find something else you like!!

I've been looking for a different one already, I would be a bit worried about getting a breeding from this one if the owners are not on top of it getting paper work in order.. they could of at least email you back with in a few days of you contacting them. Oh well just move on..

If my heart were set on that horse, Id call and express my concern before I moved on. We never know what is going on in someone else's house. Might be right to move on but at least you'll know for sure.

We bought a breeding from someone who had won the breeding to the stud. Holy camoly talk about terrible communication on the stud owners part. Took the lady at least a few months to get all the paperwork in order and there's still some loose ends. Being she's got one of the better known studs out there, you'd think she'd have it figured out but apparently not. Had we known she was such a terrible business person we would have gone elsewhere. I wouldn't waste your time, think about how much of a hassle it'll be to get paperwork sent in for registration, if the mare doesn't take, etc. Not worth it!

If they are lax about communication and paper work, dont expect much different when trying to order semen. Move on and save your self alot of frustration and money.
