Not to be a smartass but I genuinely want to know. If this the only ground available for you to ride on is it not the same as the ground you have them turned out on where they walk, trot, run and play? So what difference would it make to ride them on it? My ground gets pretty hard sometimes but it's the same ground they're turned out on. I don't lope small circles bc it can get pretty slick.

More or less the same yes, and I agree with you - this was my thought when I started working them a few weeks ago.

The ground they are turned out on is actually worse as it gets rutted up during the thaw cycles vs the area I ride in that I stay off of during the thaws to prevent rutting.

My interest was mostly in how hard folks work them on it, if at all and it sounds like mostly trot work with a few who lope and even breeze.

Gotcha. I long trot and "work" the various terrains of my land. I haul, or attempt to, at least 2x a week for arena/sand work. That's where I generally lope and work smaller circles etc. I will breeze one at home if I've had some rain and the ground isn't slick.
