Would anyone breed a cow bred mare (mine is Colonel Freckles on top and High Brow Cat on bottom) to Firewater Finale? He is a stallion that I've always had an interest in, but I've noticed that a lot of his offspring are from running bred mares.

I tried one out who was super nice, big too!

I think Amy has bred some Pablo babies to him if I remember right?

She has bred some cow bred mares to him, I see them posted on Facebook. Not sure if they were out of Amy's mares or not, but they were really nice looking babies. They had size, bone and fluid movement. I think he is one of those that will cross on anything.

I bred a daughter of Colonel Hotrodder to him and got a really nice colt. The mare was more refined and a little lighter boned than I like, but the colt was a big boy with lots of muscle and bone. Unfortunately we lost him to a perforated intestine when he was just a few months old. But that is definitely a cross I would do again.

Edited to add - I've bred three mares with totally different pedigrees to Dazzler, and they were all very nice - size, bone, and muscle. I recommend him a lot, and that's because I think he crosses well with a variety of mares. And as a bonus Amy and Brett have always been great to work with, and when it comes down to it I'm always going to go with a stallion whose owners/managers take care of mare owners.

We stand Firewater Finale and we have bred him to a few working cow and ranch bred mares and the foals have been nice so far. He's got a couple in TX and one in ND crossed like that, that are making nice rodeo horses. And a few local ones that are doing well in the mounted shooting and roping pens.

I have a daughter of Metallic Cat that earned some money at the snaffle bit futurities and we flushed her to him for a foal this spring. I'm very excited about that cross and I've had a lot of interest in the foal already.
