Don't feed the senior but we did feed their complete feed. There was so much molasses and so sticky you couldn't get it apart, and this wasnt even in the winter. Some bags would be like this, some wouldn't. We weren't a fan.

Might try Purina Senior though, we fed that at the barn I boarded at so would go through a bag every few days. It was consistent and all the horses looked great on it, young or old.

I would love to but I am in southern Nevada and the TC feed on the wet coast is not milled in an ionophore free facility. I like their products but I'm not willing to risk it.Β

Are most of the facilities ionophore free ?

Fancy Lass-

Most all feed mills in the US manufacture feeds for multiple types of animals and would, therefore, have various ingredients specific to certain species. We require all of the mills that manufacture Triple Crown to meet our stringent quality standards and we perform random visits.

The TC manufacturing mills across the US vary, some do not have medications while some do. If I can get your location (city, state) I can provide some additional info. However some locations may have 2 manufacturers who distribute near you. If you want to provide your specific location and where you buy feed, I can get mill info from you. You can PM that to me and I can get you more detailed information.

I fed the Senior for years then, started feeding the Complete since it has a higher fat to it and I was told by a rep that it is designed for horses that are ulcer prone. My grulla mare is ulcer prone and my paint mare is a super hard keeper... so, I feed the Complete to both. I love the way they look on it. Nice coats, nice feet. I have fed so many different things and this is by far my favorite feed.

...in other words, they're going on with business as usual like "most" other companies and are ignoring the fact that this is a much larger issue than anyone wants to acknowledge.

I use Tc senior. I love it. We own a feed store that is a Bluebonnet and TC dealer. All out TC comes from the BB mill in Oklahoma. We have had no complaints on the quality of feed. Another feed that is amazing is the BB senior therapy.

southtxponygirl- We have always had various contracts with manufacturing partners who make feeds for us in their region. The good thing about having mills spread across the US is the feed is shipped to closer locations, which can mean less handling and helps to keep the feed as fresh as possible.

cowgirlup- Thank you for the post! Triple Crown feed around the OK, TX area is indeed coming from BlueBonnet's mill in Ardmore, OK and that facility is ionophore free.

I fed it for about two years. I paid $25 a bag for it, thinking it was a high quality product. My horses looked good on it, but I had one more that would colic frequently. Took her off TC Senior and she hasn't colic'd since then. I now feed Excel Equine, which is locally milled for horses only. She hasn't had an episode since the day I took her off TC.

willrodeoforfood-

OH Kruse is making our feed in the western part of the US. Their west mill makes horse feeds and they have no ionophores at that location. That mill is totally separate from the mill that makes medicated feeds. TC is only made in their West mill. In addition, they test every batch of TC feed for ionophores and provide us a report.

Blue Bonnet and Consumer’s Supply are also both Ionophore free mills and they ship feeds around the TX, OK, NM area (bluebonnet) and around ID, MT, WY- sorry, I may be missing a few states around that area. (consumer supply) . Any feed from Nevada would be made at one of these mills.
