| I'm stuck between 5 star and the SPH pads. I've heard great things from both. I'm needing a new pad to help with dry spots on my mare. My saddle is custom fitted for her so I know it's not the saddle. My old pad is wearing down really bad so I'm needing a new one. It's creating dry spots on my mare so I'm really trying to find something to help with that and last for a long time without wearing out so easily. |

| Love my 5 stars and I've used just about all of them. If the saddle fits well a 1/2" or 3/4" should be plenty.
A quality pad is a great idea, but if it's been a while since the saddle was fitted remember horses change shape, might not be a bad idea to double check the fit without a pad. |

Location: Ohio | I've tried tons of different pads and nothing ever compares to my 5 star pads. My horses love them and I feel like they work better in them compared to other brands. Rockyroad is an amazing dealer that I've ordered from in the past. She really goes above and beyond and is very knowledgeable! |

Location: NW MT | They are very different pads - the 5 Star has just under 100% VIRGIN wool, are felted to an industrial strength, have the highest compression/concussion rating, and can be ordered in several thicknesses and any dimension you want. SPH are either neoprene or a "100% pressed wool mix". They are not even close to the same rating. But everyone has their own preferences. If I can help you with a 5 Star, just shoot me a msg. I have been BHW's 5 Star dealer for many years. |

Location: Phoenix | No experience with SPH pads I do not think you will regret buying a 5 Star pad. Rocky Road is great to deal with and they are the best wool pads on the market. I've used Tod Slone, Bayou West, Classic Equine and Impact Gel to give you an idea. |
