| A few years ago the Mega cab gave you a shorter bed that made pulling a gooseneck a bit scary. What have folks found recently? Seems there's a ton of mega cabs but they say it's still a 6'4" bed, anyone pulled with a late model mega cab they were happy with?

Location: MN | I have a 2008 with an extended hitch and have not had any issues. Just be aware if you get in a tight spot. Honestly, I would have a hard time giving up my mega cab. It's even turned into my primary vehicle with three kids! |

| I have a 2016 crew dually and the back is huge! If I had kids it would easily accommodate 3. I love my 8' bed no worries. |

Location: West Texas | I love my mega cab. I have a long 8ft bed on mine, and besides being huge, it's awesome. There are lots of mega cabs out there with the short bed that comes with them. I would get an extension like was said above and stil you need to be aware if really turning tight.

| Friend has one, with a 7' wide trailer she gets along just fine in most situations.
8' wide trailer really limits you without an extension - case in point they creased the cab backing up their RV without really jackknifing it too badly. |

Location: North Dakota | I bought a 2006 2500 mega cab in 2010 and have used that to pull my trailers up until this last week when we upgraded to a 2017 Ram, yes Mega Cab. Both were 6'4" boxes. I never put an extender on the hitch or even thought twice about hitting the cab when turning/backing. I've pulled 7-8' wide horse trailers and stock trailers and never had any issues. For me, the added room and storage space is so worth it. |

| We love our mega cab! We have the short box on our 2015 Ram and have no problems pulling our 8' wide trailer. We can jack-knife to almost 90 degrees. It does depend on the shape of your trailer nose, but we do not use an extender.
There is about 2" yet before the trailer would have hit the truck in this photo.

| I was just about to post on this. Just looked at a mega cab loaded Laramie Limited short box. Very nice, and just like new.
TrackinBubba and I are switched, my hubby isn't worried, he's like ' yea, that's close but....' Me I'm the one having a stroke. And you put just a twinge of torque, say a hill or a ditch like when you're parking at some of the outdoor pens I go to, and I see a crunched cab. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.
Thanks everyone. |

Actual conversation between my SO and I: Me: "That's an awful tight squeeze... Maybe let's just park over there." SO "Nah, I can back in no problem!" *Puts truck in reverse* Me: "You have a short bed you're going to dent your cab! Just pull over there, Please!" SO: "We don't have full coverage on this thing for nothing." *Proceeds to back up without looking at the cab.* Yup, I almost peed my pants. Truck was fine tho !

Location: Not Where I Want to Be | I don't hate the shorter bed all that much(prefer the longer but can get by with the short) But I despise the giant blind spot that the mega cab creates.

| We recently purchased an 07 MegaCab, and I don't think I could ever go back... We have a little one and with the car seat and God knows what else, the extra room is so much needed. I can fold down the seat to have a place to change her, plus cram things behind the seat. Its just amazing.
We bought a B&W extender that stays in the pickup off of Amazon for like $120 and it has been great. Haven't even been close with either of our trailers. |

Location: Alberta, Canada | I hauled with a mega cab for a few years and loved the big back seat. I never really noticed an issue with the box size because it was all I knew. Last year we upgraded to a new dually with a crew cab and WOW, the difference in the box size is worth giving up the back seat... I love having the extra room for hay without having to load the hay rack every trip. I don't have kids however... If we did I think the mega cab would have been a bit more of a heartache to give up. |
