I have never known any other way. I have always lived in the sticks. I does take getting used to. My husband had a hard time adjusting but he did. Think ahead on groceries and don't go somewhere just to get milk. I would check out the neighbors though. That would be the deal breaker for me..

wow! thank you for all of the reply's!!
we are fairly quiet people! we don't mind spending our evenings by ourselves! sometimes we blow off plans with people just so we can stay home and do our own thing!
the drive to work wont bother me! and it doesn't bother him! hes constantly on the road for his job! he does very well for himself so the fuel is okay!
the only thing that worries me is driving to the barrel races, but there's really only weekend barrel races, so if I have to drive I will drive! sounds so stupid when I actually say it out loud since I only do this in the summer!
with it being out in the boonies, we are paying ALOT less than what it would be closer to everything
this place comes with 80 acres and the other place we are looking at has 14 acres and is closer to everything with no shop or barn, and these are both the same price..... if I keep saying all of this out loud its making more sense lol
You sound like an old story I heard years ago ..
A rancher put his place up for sale and of course was looking at ads on
other properties ...
He called his real estate lady all excited and said he found the place
he had been wanting all of his life... trout stream, beautiful views,
well maintained barns, fences and nice big roomy house ...
She started laughing ... and said ... you silly old fool .. that is the
ad I wrote to sell your place ...
**********************************************************
If you live in the frozen tundra states with lots of bad weather that
might affect my decision or if roads were terribly bad and narrow ... on
how far I had to drive.
**************************************************
Look at it this way ... you can drive 30-50 miles in 30-60 minutes on
open roads ....... or live in town and sit at red lights and bad traffic for
30-60 minutes and travel 5-10 miles ...
**************************************************
You will learn quickly to shop for fresh foods on the way home
after work. And when you do drive to town to shop you will have
a list of several different stores to shop for whatever you need
at home without making a trip to buy paint at Home Depot and then
tripping back to buy groceries .... etc etc
I generally have 3-5 stores I need something from before I make
the trip to town ... I call this riding my circle on one trip ..
If your driveway allows to set a solar powered gate 60 ft down your
drive then do so and add a motion detector solar light to shine on it if there is
any activity ... also you can pull off the road while gate is opening ..
this refrains people from driving down your drive for no reason ...
AND there is nothing more fun than chasing a loose horse down a
country road ... lol
Do some motion sensor lights inside barn and front of house for
the same reasons.
In 5-10 years your area will be too crowded and you will want to
move again ... lol
