Location: Kansas | I spent an hour at our Social Security office this morning trying to correct a problem generated by the IRS. Wanna know who fills the very large waiting area.......Hispanics who don't speak English (mostly very young people), Muslims wearing scarves around their heads and shoulders, a young French couple was there, and many young African-Americans......there was also an off the charts obese young man. What did I expect to see......people with gray hair and the disabled. There were a few of those but not many. |

OhMax - 2017-01-26 9:01 AM Underground networks I would suppose. I think it's a common misunderstanding that illegals don't pay taxes/contribute and only work for cash. Many do obtain someone's social security number and do pay taxes. Many do work for cash, it goes both ways. I'm not pro illegal immigration by any means, but an illegal working regular paycheck cutting provide your documentation and fill out an I-9 type jobs isn't all that uncommon.
And when they do have a fake SS# and pay in, they declare a ridiculous amount of dependents so what they pay in is chump change compared to what they get in services.
Come in the legal way or stay out. It's great to have immigrants that can contribute to our society.Â
I didn't say I was pro-illegal immigration, just that they don't all work for cash under the table.
I totally believe we need immigrantion reform and an effective way to both halt incoming illegals and deal with the ones that are here who want to work legally and be productive members of society. |

| They don't necessarily have to be fake ss #s. When my grandmother died in 2001 her son, my uncle and his wife used my grandmother ss# to get credit cards and loans which of course they defaulted. When we realized what happened we contacted authorities. Basically, since my grandmother was the victim, but deceased nothing was done. Much like dead people vote they also can drive pretty nice cars! |

Seems the the IRS forgot to inform SS that I worked in 2015. It's been fun trying to straighten this out.

I knew what you meant and was agreeing with you. We need more immigrants that contribute to our society and less that feed off of us. |

| Go to fake social security numbers. You can get a number immediately. Not hard to make a social security card with a computer, printer and card stock. |

I deal with government everyday (accountant), so I say bless your heart. Pain in the butt trying to fix things we didn't break---and of course THEY are never wrong. |

........not to mention a maddeningly cavalier attitude about their "errors." |
