Elite Veteran Posts: 937	Just wanting opinions on what you would do in this situation... Selling a horse that I can not get with his riding style, he is a hotter type horse and free runner and I can't ride him. He was sore last year so I took him to my regular vet and he diagnosed him with sore hocks and injected him. I brought the horse back several months later saying he still felt off and he again said sore hocks that he was sound everywhere else and injected him again. After a few more months the horse still felt off, he was riding good and nothing major just felt off so I took him to another vet for a second opinion. This vet says he has fused hocks and showed me the x-rays and even I with an untrained eye could see there were no joint spaces. Vet says the previous vet was not getting the needle in since the horse was fused fully and the horse did not have sore hocks. Vet diagnoses him with some arthrtis in pastern and gives previcox, since then the horse has moved sound and feels great. Now my problem is I am selling said horse and have told a potential buyer he has arthritis and showed where and told about the previcox for maintenenace. The buyer uses the first vet and wants to take the horse there for the prepurchase exam. I have no problem with this but the first vet wants me to release all prior medical history on horse and talk all about horses prior history with him to the potential buyer. I absolutely want to be upfront but this vet misdiagnosed the horse and treated him incorrectly to begin with. When I tried to speak with him he was nasty to me about it and acted like I was trying to hide information from the buyer and treated me very rudely. SO should I speak with the potential purchaser and lay it all out on the line and give the second vet report that was correct to the purchaser? Or should I keep my mouth shut and take the horse and potentially let the first vet who misdiagnosed the horse lead the purchaser to believe he has more problems than I've disclosed? I absolutely hate drama and confrontation and am completely upset and torn about what to do. I want the horse to have a good home and I want the buyer to be happy with what they purchase but I want the truth out there as well.

Good Grief! Posts: 6343 Location: Cap'n Joan Rotgut.....alberta	I would just simply go to the 2nd vet with the horse and purchaser..hes still your horse so use the vet you want and tell the 1st vet hes an asshat......m

If I was buying I would want all the information available to the seller, then I could decide for myself. If the first vet leads the buyer to believe you are withholding information then you look dishonest. That would be a red flag to me and I would probably walk away for that reason alone.
