Location: Willows, CA | I don't know if anyone has seen what is going on in Northern CA with Oroville Dam and the huge rise in the lake level. This is the second largest reservoir in the state, and tonight there is concern about part of the dam failing. My daughter and her family live downstream of the dam and are under emergency evacuation. I think their location will be OK, but under the evacuation order they have moved out (my house is full time of grandkids) along with the horses and dogs. All looks good for them.
The point I want to make is that my phone is ringing off the hook with offers of help. I have had two call from Texas asking if the kids need help, along with local offers of stalls, beds and anything else that they may need. What other group do you know that would jump in to help like this. God bless horse people. Just sayin. |

| Same for rodeo people specifically. Whenever I am traveling with or without my horses, I stop and turn around if I see a truck/trailer broke down or flat tire etc. I once saw a HUGE rig with a blow out that took out part of the fender.. Def not change tire and back on road. I had an open hole and it happened to be a top 15 barrel racer trying to get to the rodeo. We unloaded her good horse and through him in my trailer and I took her to the rodeo on my way home ( Little out of the way but not bad) lol She made it and her traveling partners showed way later after rig was patched. They weren't up until slack after perf.. I left her some hay, water bucket, hoof pick, and a brand new set of boots cause in the freeway change we forgot hers. It was awesome and I still get a xmas card every year. |

Location: Willows, CA | Concerned calls from as far as Tulsa this morning. More rain on the way on Wednesday predicted. We even had friends from 200 miles away asking if we needed them to bring trailers up to move horses. We are all good for now, and pray for the people that are in a direct line if this thing goes bad, but really overwhelmed by the outreach of friends. |

Location: Arkansas | That's awesome, and agreed that horse people just can't be beat. And there are still folks in general that are kind. We were going to the NCHA futurity a few years ago when we kinda pulled off on the side of the road for me to visit the lady's room in the horse trailer. . . . As I was getting back in the truck a gentleman with his family, pulling a ski boat, stopped and asked if we were alright or if we needed any help. Sean told him we were good and how much we appreciated his stopping; a lot of folks wouldn't have stopped by themselves, let alone with kids and a boat behind them! Just the other day we were going to LR when we saw a truck and trailer pulled over on the opposite side of the road. I told Sean it was time to pay it forward!! We turned around, and he got out to see if he could help. A young man was changing a tire on the trailer and told Sean that he and his daddy had it covered, but appreciated our stopping. (With my superb powers of deduction I decided they must be team ropers!!!) |
