So on a wild limb started my boyfriends pro steer wrestling horse on barrels, it was going to be a hit or miss. Well lucky for me, he LOVES it! Just want to get some opinions on things I can do to make sure he stays healthy and sound getting worked for both situations. supplements etc.. Right now he isn't being entered in both events, but Eventually will be used for both events. I have started spoiling him a little bit more with BOT products
(thats spoiling from being owned by a bull dogger LOL
) Thank you for all input!

We rope on all of ours and run barrels on 3 of the 4, they also go work the sale barn and have been moving cow calf pairs and sorting for a neighboring farm here lately.
They get kept in good shape, get good feed and quality forage, and are kept in large runs so they can move around as they please. One is a little bit of a harder keeper so we're starting him on Platinum but otherwise they get turmeric golden paste as a supplement - it's cheap and it makes me feel good.
I have a PHT blanket but I really only use it when I'm at shows were they are stalled, I feel that having to stand around when they are use to moving about will sore one faster than anything else. Going and making 1 or even 2 competition runs would be considered a light work day for any of them.

I have tried to take my barrel horse to a sorting and I even put him close to our cows and I learned that he is as afraid of cows as I am so... I guess his job is just running barrels and trail riding. I do use BOT on him
(sheets, quick wraps, hock wraps
) and he gets one shot of pentosan a month for his joints. Also I give him some CR probiotics and equisure before he travels
