Location: PICAYUNE,MS | I had my horse on pellets and she just hates it , she eats hay before her feed. I switched to omolene 200 and she loves the sweet feed.

| It is a very poor choice. It's 40% sugar !! No wonder they like it so much. |

That is a sypmtom of ulcers. I know your saying she doesn't like the pellet but I've seen ulcer horses take the pleasure of the sweetest over the pain. This was with their owners I don't fed any molasses or corn period because I've had horses had issues with both and I rely on forage to be the base of their diet. |

Location: Kansas | I mix it with Equine Senior for our old horse and he gets along beautifully. Purina is all good feed. I'm sure they glean more info from their research centers than the local elevators do from sweeping a mixture of whatever off the floor. |

| We feed Omolene 200, but we mix it with whole oats. It's an odd measurement, nothing scientific, just based on our scoop sizes. It ends up being 2/5 Omolene and 3/5 oats. We also don't feed much grain because we feed alfalfa. We don't have issues with ulcers or weight (unless we're talking about being overweight!).
From what I've read over the years on BHW, everybody has different programs and you just have to figure out what works best for yours. Certain feeds are only available in certain areas, people feed different forages, etc. I personally am not a fan of pelleted feeds, although I have fed them in the past when managing a horse that was tying up. |
