Last night at feeding time was hard since it was the first time he was gone when I made "the rounds". I sat in his pen for a bit and let myself get it all out when I had a few moments by myself. He will be missed. I think this is so hard for me because if it was my own horse I would have this "I've done everything I could for as long as I could" feeling of comfort and I just don't feel this way in his situation.

It's a shame his owner didn't care about him like you did. I know you are right and I have people all around me reminding me of this. I feel better now that it has been a few days knowing that he isn't in pain anymore and that will have to be enough comfort for me in this situation.
