I need to build paddocks and fence in my arena, and have been doing a bunch of research.
I came across a few companies that sell the vinyl fencing with lifetime warranties.

do any of you currently use this? pro's and con's of this vs wood?

have you used this fencing for your arena's as well?

post pictures if you have them! thanks!

My parents just put up vinyl privacy fence all the way around their property. It has the lifetime warranty. I tried to keep an open mind when they bought it but I HATE it! Wind has already done some damage (this happened within a month of it being installed). Every time you shut a gate the whole fence rattles, bad! I can't even fathom having vinyl fence and horses. I think it'd be destroyed pretty quickly and you'd constantly have the company out to repair it. Just my two cents; hopefully there are others on here that have better experiences with it.

My green cove springs farm I had vinyl put up on half of it so about 29 acreas .. it is very difficult to keep clean.. white molds or gets green yellow on it and if you have a horse that leans well they can Pop it out .. it was top of the line fencing to.. I just hated to have to clean it board by board..lol.. I also had it my Wellington farm down south.. i had a man that kept them clean..  it looks pretty but not functional ..

We have the 4.25 brown fencing and I really like it.  However, you need to use some common sense installing it if you want it to last and be as maintenance free as possible.  We used the standard, heavy duty H braces instead of the corner posts that they suggest.  We also ran a thin, very light duty hot wire along the top of the fence, keeps the horses from leaning on it.

?I really like it, the brown does not show dirt and mold like the white would and it has not faded so far.  I am SOOOO glad we went with regular H braces instead of the propped up corner posts.  It gets so wet down here, the corner braces made the way RAMM tells you to would never have held up.

That's exactly what i would like to do.

My husband used to sell fences - he said for horses, no vinyl.

I'm not sure if all warrantees are the same, but the ones he sold, the warranty does not cover hail or high winds - We are in TX so he saw nice ranches with hail damage to expensive vinyl fencing.
And in open areas, you'll get the high winds, too.

Also, he's not in the fence business, anymore, but goes to a lot of nice ranches of his customers, and has seen/heard good things about Priefert fencing.  more affordable, easier to repair, lasts longer.

Would strongly discourage using Vinyl. The house we bought a few years ago has it out front, while it is very pretty it is worthless as a horse fence... let alone a perimeter fence. We have since put no climb fencing on the inside of it because it is just so flimsy and we do not trust it at all. We have had some "boards" break and needing replaced which always makes my husband really happy, not!

We have had ours for about 15 years. Never had a problem. The horses respect it and if by chance a rail pops out, we just pop/slide back in. Never have had a injury due to the fencing. Sure it gets mildue or green on it, but we pressure wash it easily. Do it again? Sure, in a heart beat.
We researched it and got the most heavy duty for horses. We have about 13-15 acres fenced. Would like to do more gates, prefer larger than 10 ft gates. But it looks nice and withstands heat, cold too. Only thing we found out is it doesnt withstand a drunk driver with a dodge 2500 PU running thru it.

Edited to add fencing name....Master Halco

Not if it would be used for roping, we have had young foals crawl through it so I bet calves would also.  If we ever get to redo our arena, I will probably use the V mesh wire with a top rail of the brown flex fence and posts spaced close together.

?Here is a picture I found with our fence in the background, you can see part of the H brace and the hot wire on top.
