| i had **8** nickel sized ticks in my 2 yr olds ear today! Yes EAR! Just one! The other had 5. Those big grey/white ticks.
Had to sedate her to get them out, but now what should I do to keep them out for good? She won't wear a fly mask with the ears. She just keeps ripping them off. i have that pink swat in there for now, should I just keep doing that? |

| Mineral Oil for human ears ... buy at any drug store or Walmart ..
Wet a twisted piece of tshirt and wet down the inside of her ear ... be ready for
for her to sling her head to get rid of any excess ...
This is also used for ear mites ...
Give her a full tube of ivermectin wormer to kill any that are hidden.

Location: MN | Ive always used swat in the ears, tips, and around the ear. My horses use to get them so bad when I lived down South. Swat seemed to be the only product that worked. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I had never had a horse with ticks in the ears until a couple of weeks ago and one of them had 4 in one ear. His ear was almost swollen closed and even with sedation we had a heck of a time getting them out. I didn't think we had ticks here, but he hasn't been off the place since august, so obviously I was wrong. |

| My vet had me use Frontline for dogs. Use the one for large dogs. Put a few drops at the base of the ears, on the poll and base of tail. |

I will try that, I hate trying to get meds down their ears. |

| I had the same thing happen to my horse. Took her to the vet because she got sick and wouldn't eat. Vet said to use tick powder on the horses back. He said not to pick out the ticks that they will die and fall out. Within the next day she was back eating and feeling better. No antibiotics were used either. |

| I agree deworming with ivermectin. We had one that had then in ears and elsewhere and they died after the ivermectin. I've never seen ticks here but she was around cattle before we got her so must have picked them up from the cattle. They are so gross |

| We use the spray frontline. Spray some on a rag and wipe the inside of the ear with it. |
