I have a coming three year old that is still a stud. He is built like a tank. Wide back and doesn't really have much withers. He is just thick. I am currently ridding him in a Corriente Barrel saddle, with a thin pad. But the poor thing ends up looking like a peanut because I have to tighten his cinch so dang tight and it still doesn't help. when I go to get on the saddle rolls so terribly it almost comes all the way to the side. Also once I get on him I am fighting the saddle from rolling all over the whole ride. I am wanting to get a new saddle but where he is so young I know his body is going to change so much so any suggestions on brand of saddles. or other tricks of the trade. I am at a lose of what to do.

Any of the charmayne James saddles tend to fit that shape well. Double J's "wide 35 tree" fits round. Caldwell maxed out. I just ordered a Shiloh with bars that are supposed to fit this shape, but I haven't seen one and don't have mine yet. It's a 7.25" gullet with a flatter bar/angle.  Stacey at Shiloh was pretty confident it would work for my round tank, so I took a chance.

I have a 2015 Double J Pozzi saddle, i guess its their standard tree because it was a trophy saddle, but it fits every young horse I have put it on. And my 3 YO filly has one side of her withers thats wider than the other, and this saddle is wide enough in front that it doesn't pinch. I'm in a similar boat as you because I wasn't about to go buy a custom saddle for a 3YO when their back will change..

That's the type of horses I general ride and I ride in a Cactus with a Charmayne James tree and it fits great.  I'm riding for a friend a racer type horse and everything I have slides back on him and it's so danged aggravating.
