Location: Cocoa, Florida | Long story short, a few weeks ago she got an infection from an injection with a steroid, has been on heavy antibiotics and no turn out. Now 3 weeks later she's got hives on one side of her body and she's wobbly like she has EPM or similar symptoms. She wants to lay down but she can't. Vet came out and gave some good pain meds to keep her comfortable but has no idea what's wrong with her. Here's a short clip, she keeps shaking her head too.

| We went to try a calf horse Thursday... We get there and the horse got into something and broke out in hives and was doing the wobbling/not really able to stand straight thing like yours is, their vet said 10cc Of Dex IV, horse will be fine in an hour. I kid you not, we pulled that needle out, the horse straightened up and trotted off, he was perfectly normal within an hour! |

It was a coffin joint injection. That's what I said they should do, unfortunately the owner has recently spent 10s of thousands of dollars to save this mare from a joint infection that made her very sick, she has been back and forth from Ocala equine several times, she even stayed there for almost 2 weeks, prognosis was give her a year off and maybe try light riding so the owner was going to give her a year off and breed her and then this happened. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | That poor mare, she looks like shes got a brain injury with the way shes moving or the infection could have gone to her brain,, why does she have that fly mask on? I would take it off for awhile.. Why did the vet give her pain meds what was the reason for them? Has she been tested for west niles/sleeping sickness?

Agree, bump for update?
Sounds like she was having an allergic reaction causing everything to swell and press on her spinal cord |
