Question, when a very does an endoscopy of the airway, do they only do airway or do they go into the lungs also? If they look into lung do they scope entire lung or just upper part?

When they do a Bal wash, they flush saline through lung. I assume that flushes entire lung not just part of it?

they can only go down to the where the upper bronchial passenges start dividing because obviously that's how long the scope is. Request for them to use their longest scope since there is a couple different length scopes. Also the the bal should be able the get fluid as deep as it will need to go to collect cells. Again the tube only goes so far. I've been through hell and back with respiratory issues and if they didn't get what they needed to get with how far down the bal collects samples I'm pretty sure they'd have a different method for diagnosing lung issues if bals weren't effective. What I mean is for any typical lung issue a bal will be able to collect the samples for the cytology.
