| What do everyone use on their barrel horses? Is it normal to be giving them 3 different things each for certain issues? Mines on a joint supplement, Previcox (only when I will run), and equipulmin to help with allergies. |

Location: Ohio girl moved to PA | I think its normal! Sometimes you can't find a Supplement that contains everything you need all in one, so you would have to feed different ones to make sure hes getting what he needs. Mine one is currently on 3 different supplements plus his Isox. So he's getting his DAC cool gut and foundation formula, his Actiflex and his Isox that he has to live on. My other barrel horse is just on the actiflex. |

I have used Platinum Performance CJ for older horse and it really helped! I generally don't care for fed through joint support, but do like this one. I will inject or give Adequan/Pentosan for joint. |

Location: MN | I feed Exceed 6 way & AE Detox daily together right now (one scoop of each), previcox a day before my run and day of, 2 hours before our run I give OE Wind & Nitro. Works like a charm!

Location: Texas | I don't really supplement much. I will buy THE blends if I need to but otherwise I don't add to their feed other than some aloe vera juice and oil if they need more fat. Bute before races, but bute and previcox aren't supplements, they're medications. |

Same. No need for anything else whatsoever. Plus feed bill is less WITH my Cur-OST than it was before and my horses do way better on less. LOVE Cur-OST! |

Location: Southern Indiana | I don't consider previcox a supplement...that's medicine so it doesn't count lol I try to stick to 2 or 3 supplements per horse or less if I can.
Horse 1 gets: actiflex, cool gut, the allgergy blend, msm
Horse 2: foundation formula, actiflex, msm
Horse 3: msm
I think I'm gonna try to quit THE allergy blend. I'm not sure it's helping that much but I may be proved wrong. I'd like to try equipulmin but it's expensive and I wouldn't be saving any money! I'm trying to cut down. I like to feed msm for extra joint support. It's cheap and works well. |

Location: Willows, CA | I am fond of saying that "we feed horses into trouble, then try to supplement them out of it ". There is absolutely a place for supplements in horses, but many horse owners go too far searching for the solution to a nonexistent problem. Balance the diet to fit the horse first based on proper roughage digestion, then add what you need in the smallest, Least disruptive package possible. When horses evolved, they could not stop at the supplement pile. Normalizing the digestive system first can save you money, time and frustration.
