I have a couple of older 5 Stars that I love. Got a new horse and now she has to share a pad with the other two horses.. time for a new pad!!!!
Two questions:
How do you like the new Flex Fit design with the open wither? Seems like a good idea?

On sizing... do you like for a few inches to stick out behind the saddle, or end pad with saddle? The horse I am buying for is big. Both short and long pad could work for her. Just wondering what is better for the back.

Thank you!

Haven't tried the Flex Fit.

My pads probably stick out maybe an inch or two on either side of my saddle (front and back). I get the countoured barrel pad size.

Haven't tried the new flex, but have a couple horses I'd be interested in trying it on.

We generally have 30" pads. I have a 28" for my 14.1h gelding and my FIL has a 32" - my opinion is the 32 is way too long but it's his pad. I like 1-2" sticking out ideally, but some saddles we have have more some have a hair less.

I love the flex fit. It fits all of my horses well and the pad seems more supple and shaped to the horses back.

As for the fitting, I tend to think a little more about what fits my horses back rather than what fits my saddle. I like them to fit from the top of the wither to the end of the back:)
