I am looking for some type of opportunity this fall/winter to learn under a professional. Paid or unpaid. I want to work under someone who trains barrel horses, or cutting horses and travel with them to competitions, work at their barn, etc. I'm very experienced in almost every aspect of horses, and am looking to learn/improve on everything I can. I don't mind hard work but I don't want to be strictly a stall cleaner. I'll turn 18 this fall. If you have any ideas for me I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

ETA I know there have been other threads about this but want to know what current opportunities there are.

I know Josey's takes a lot of interns. They work in the western store, participate in clinics, clean stalls and lots of other things. Fantastic learning opportunity. Call them and ask. Located in Marshall TX.

You can typically find a loping position for a cutter just about any day of the week if you start calling and asking around. Most of them require live-in and don't typically want temporary (although most end up being temporary regardless). There are a few facebook groups that have job opening posts. Equine Help Wanted is one.

There's another one that's something like Lopers wanted: North Texas (so on and so forth

Just keep in mind to choose a trainer that you can leave nicely from. If you feel like they're shady, they're probably shady. LOL Google search your employer before shaking hands on any job. And I mean Google Hard!
If word gets out that you're a bad loper or hand it's going to be very very hard to find another job.
