| I'm looking into living quarters trailers (whole new world to me). Probably looking to buy in a year or two. Looking for suggestions and info...
We're wanting something to keep kids occupped in and to use for camping/mini toy hauler for little stuff. Everything I've found is tiny, granted not a lot in my area for sale. Wanting something older in the 20-30k range. No toilet in shower. Not looking for a ginormous 100k trailer. Preferably a 3 horse.
What year/make/model do you have, how long is the shortfall? Pictures appreciated! Just trying to see what's out there and what older makes/models might work for us.
Any suggestions in general are appreciated. Thanks!

| Really...I think it's a matter of climbing in and out of a lot of them. I would see how far you are from a bigger dealer who also has used trailers and go walk around. You don't have to buy from them, but can gain insight on likes and dislikes and must haves. | |

| We have a 2008 circle J 4 horse (mirage I think) 10' shortwall with a slide. We found it on facebook/BHW just a hair over the price range you listed a few years ago, while horse stuff certainly isn't an investment.. this was by far our best "investment" so far having 2 very little kids. We wanted a dinette rather than a couch, kids are messy eaters! The slide makes a world of difference. We used ours for camping as well, sure makes those week long trips much more enjoyable. With the slide out we have enough room in the walkway to set up a pack n play and still have room to walk around it without waking the baby. It does have managers which really increases the storage but honestly we only use that extra space when camping and we could get by without it. Collapsible rear tack rarely is used and is folded up 99% of the time but we do have a stand up water tank in it. Even with the mangers and a more narrow trailer we can still fit our 4 wheeler in the back for camping. We don't "need" a 4 horse but with the stud stall it has become our spot to throw the inverter and stroller so we aren't lugging those in and out of the back of the pickup without losing a horse slot. Separate toilet and shower. I do wish we had the walk through to the horse area for muddy boots, in theory I think we would use it to kick shoes off before heading into the trailer but I might be living in fantasy land thinking that with a 2.5 year old and 9 month old... | |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | We have a 2006 Cimarron with a 14' short wall, 3 horse, 8' wide. It's not so big that it's difficult to get in most places, but is big enough that 4 people and 2 dogs (one a German shepherd) camped in it for an entire week. We've done that several times actually, but this was the first year to take the dogs. We have a couch and dinette both, so the kids each have their own bed. 6.0 cubic foot fridge, full bath and kitchen. The trailer has a ramp and collapsible tack, so makes a great toy/camping stuff hauler, and the horse area ends up being our closet/dressing area while we're set up. Works awesome and I love this trailer. The construction and finish in the horse area is excellent. The LQ finish will depend on the after market company that installs. Mine isn't as fru fru as Outlaw, but is very well done and laid out.
ETA: I paid $42,000 for it in 2013

Location: Jersey Girl | If you can find one in your price range try and go with a slide and 8 ft wide. Will make a huge difference in living space especially with the little ones.
Before we bought our LQ (first for us) I walked in and out of alot of different trailers to see what finishes and features I like. We ended up with a 2004 Exciss 3h with 8ft short wall. It isn't real big but it has all the comforts and the shower/toilet are separate. Its perfect for what I need. The only thing I don't like about it is the door is on the wrong side for how regular campsites are set up. We still occaisionally go camping in it but would be a little easier with the proper set up. The only other issue is I think the saddle racks are too close to the door. I like to store my saddle pad on the racks also but can't because of the set up.

| Thank you everyone! Gives me a better idea....definitely going to look for something with a slide and I think as far as the shortwall goes I'll have to check them out.
Bonus if you want to tell me how long your LQ trailer is lol

| I have a 3H with a 9' shortwall. The box is 23', so not including the gooseneck. It's 8' wide. Not family friendly at that size, but for 2 adults it works just fine and would work decently for 2 adults and a smaller child that isn't mobile yet.
Well eventually upgrade to something bigger, but we will also buy a smaller "run around" trailer for day trips and rodeos we aren't staying overnight at. Due to both of us working full time we can't always leave as early as we'd like and even though we don't have a huge rig - parking can still get tight at some of the rodeos we go to. We really regret selling my husbands old trailer.

Nope, no slide. I don't want a slide even though the extra room would be nice. It makes the trailer heavier, parts of it may not be usable unless slide is out, it's something else to go wrong, and you lose storage.

Location: north dakota | I just got a 03 4 star in the price range you are looking at. It's a 4 horse with a 13 foot living quarters. It has a full bathroom, couch and my favorite feature is the bunk beds. It's so nice since I take 3 kids under the age of 4 when I haul my oldest daughter to her barrel races.

while a slide out does add weight, IF the trailer is 8' wide, you should have plenty of room to maneuver easily w/o having to put the slide out. I love mine - if it's a short stay, we leave the slide in, otherwise if we want the Taj, we put it out. It's 11' SW, 8' slide, full bathroom, 3H. It's 26' on the floor, so pretty easy to get around with.
