Location: on the fine line between insanity and geniusness | Bear with me just a minute because I need to have a small pity party! September 14 is notoriously a bad day in history for me! This might get kinda lengthy! I was fortunate enough as a kid to grow up riding with Deb Mohon. I went to my first clinic with her with I was in kindergarten and I was hooked. That led to me spending countless spring breaks, many late nights, and weeks of my summer vacations following her around worshipping her every move. She was a legend in the barrel racing industry, but a HERO to me. On September 14, 2003 she lost her life doing what she did best- riding a dang horse. Fast forward seven years- my dad and I were rear ended by a gravel truck while doing what we do best- penning and hauling cows! We were so blessed for our lives to be spared but guess what day it happened?!? Yep, September 14, 2010! Today is a tough one for me, it's taken me to my weakest moments twice in my life. 2003 taught me what it was to grow up and fix problems on my own without leaning on Deb as a crutch. It taught me to utilize what she had taught me and spent so many of those late nights passing on to me. 2010 taught me sheer physical strength. To fight through pain, through back injections and surgeries and needles and doctors to press on to the dreams and goals she instilled in me. Today is a lot tougher without my daddy here, I always used to joke that this was the day that his slow driving almost killed us!! Ok, I'm done with my pity party now!!! Sorry it's long... back to horses and trailers and miracle cure all supplements!!

This is the first year I have had to deal with it without him, he passed away in February. It kinda hit again this morning. I'm not usually a moper, but today is hard. |
