Location: Wild Wild West | I've only dealt with one bad mare in my 60 years of riding horses that was bad when she was in heat. A friend of mine said that dried juniper berries really helped her mare, I bought them for my husband's heel horse and they worked wonders. I now am riding a mare that is terrible. She WHIPs her tail so hard, that the braid would about knock you out if she hit you with it. She squirts all over if you touch her near her tail. Very hard for her to focus when you ride her. So, that's my story. I'm open for all opinions about everything out there, natural or otherwise. How they have worked for you, how much they cost, any info. I haven't had her to a vet, yet. She isn't mine, I'm just riding her for the owner because they want to sell her, so I'd like to go the most economical route, if there is one. Thanks for your help.

| Regumate. Period. You will be happy , she will be happy. Herbal potions are not what a mare that bad needs. I have one now that stays on it daily , every day, 365 a year! |

Is it a shot you give her daily? What does it cost? Thanks for your input. |

| Regumate is given orally 10cc a day. Squirt it in mouth or on feed. But i squirt it cause it smells pretty bad. Lol a 300cc bottle from my vet is 200.00 and lasts 100 days. Without it my mare is in heat 24/7 and miserable pain. On it , she is a sweetheart. |

Location: NE TX | My mare used to be the exact copy of what you are describing. I give mine an IM injection every other week of Medroxyprogesterone and she still comes into heat but not RAGING heat like you are describing anymore. I didn't want to mess with Regumate cause I didn't want to mess with daily dosage or with having to wear gloves since you can't get it on you. Hardly any tail movement and no peeing while running anymore. You can also give a cup of apple cider vinegar daily in their feed and that will help as well with the peeing.
Hope this helps! |
