| Nothing says welcome to the new week like walking into the barn, sipping your first glorious cup of coffee...flipping on the light and seeing a suspicious pile of poop by your tie rail...where you know there wasn’t poop last night when you closed up...
So we’ve been juggling 5 horses between 4 runs for a while now. Usually not an issue, all geldings, all get along more or less, only the new colt is segregated, whichever run ends up with 2 is fine. Or so we thought. Apparently at some point there was a disagreement between the 2 that ended up together, a gate was popped off the hinges, and suddenly they were best buds going on a grand adventure.
Can’t have been out very long, only got into the hay, spilled Platinum everywhere, and got into the smaller of 2 grain barrels.
Oh and next weekend is the worst of all “holidays” for equestrians, Daylight Savings Time.

This highlighted part made me LOL
I walked into the barn this morning and found my gelding standing by his feeder... With his blanket on his head. Just like: "Oh, hey there Mom. I kind of got myself into a pickle... Help?"
The mare was just staring at him like: "How do you survive?"

Jealous!!! We need to do that too.
Monday got waaaay better. I changed jobs a little under a month ago. I thought my old position had paid me for everything they owed me. Apparently not as another almost full paycheck showed up in the bank this morning - such a blessing! We bought this colt, spent quite a bit on materials for our shop and kitchen renovation, and then I hit a deer with our dually truck, talk about unexpected whammy to the bank acct. The unexpected paycheck choked me up a bit. |

Location: Montana | My grey gelding cut his leg 2 weeks ago, so he has had to be penned up for that long (and until the stitches come out, minimum). Well, we had to make a make-shift pen that is about the size of a stall and a small run, as the vet doesn't want him moving around a lot. That grey horse has figured out more ways to get out of this pen (3 strands of wire) and mostly rolls under. Now, he isn't a little horse (15.1h, about 1200 lbs.), and he can roll under most days without breaking any wire. Drives me nuts, because its like he can do a magic trick. He's on one side of the pen and the next time he's not! |

| Happy birthday Sandok!!
My day started out pretty average, except that I woke up with a sore throat (NOOOO!) so I got some Halls and tea on my way to work. I had just brought my tea in my office and sat down, when my phone buzzed with a text from my boarding owner. My very ungraceful hand proceeded to spill my entire cup of fresh tea all over my desk...after cleaning that up haha I read the text, to which stated my horse had chewed through another two boards of wooden fencing...haha great start so far ;] At least the sun is shining today!! |

Location: Missouri | I had a Saturday morning, not a Monday. Went out to feed to find the barn gate off it's hinges. All horses present and accounted for. My gelding had a few scrapes and blue gate paint on his white sock, so we know who the culprit was. It was a little puffy Saturday and Sunday but looked better today. No limping, just puffy. |
