WrapN3MN - 2017-11-22 11:32 AM hotpaints - 2017-11-21 7:03 PM Does any one know or have a good guess as to the last year that FG sired a foal? Not a clone of FG. We had a filly born this year (2017 ) through the use of cooled semen used in 2016. If that is what you are asking?
Was the semen from FG or one of the clones? I thought FG himself was no longer fertile, hence the use of FG clones for breeding.
This is why Facebook (Social Media) makes us all stupider...we accept uninformed opinions as fact and then repeat them as fact.

From a forum on BHW........I think it was last year. Good to know that the FG daughters are really sired by FG. Thanks! |

Not to be a debbie downer, and hopefully I don't get attacked for this, but I'm wary about breeding to him now or any young sons as theres been some chatter about clones being used in his place since no one would be the wiser   same dna but better conception rates...idk just what I've heard lol!
I totally agree!!!!! |

My husband and I were talking about this yesterday. We both decided it would be fraud and false advertising, if you think you're breeding to the stud that's been cloned, and you end up getting semen from the clone. However, genetically speaking, you still would be getting the exact same genes no matter if the semen came from the sire himself or a clone.
This is where we tend to digress- if you're breeding to a stud for his genes, then it shouldn't matter if it's the clone or the sire himself. Nature vs nurture plays a huge part in the temperament, disposition, work ethic, etc. of horses, and even though that's something that technically isn't passed on "genetically", I would still rather breed to the sire himself that has been through it all and made the name for himself, versus the clone that hasn't proven anything and could be a dud.
This is a frequent and long lasting conversation in our house |

My mare took 6 breedings before she settled......not sure I'd call that a good conception rate LOL.
Not saying he doesn't have good conception rates. Just my experience with it. |

| Changing the subject a little, but I thought the AQHA would only register foals from a dead stallion for 2 years following his passing. Is this true? |

If that’s what you consider “bad talking” him, then sure?? I PM’d because I shared personal information on my mare - so get over yourself.

So does this mean anything sired by DTF and FWF will no longer be able to be registered by AQHA??????? |
