Has anyone tried it? I have noticed significant results taking it myself (in reducing workout recovery time and general gut health), but have never fed it to a horse. Does anyone have any experiences with it that they would share?

Also, not to beat a dead horse(I've read old threads for dayssss haha), but what are everyone's latest thoughts regarding non-omeprazole ulcer treatments? Anyone have any thoughts there?

I've used it on my 5 yr od with great results . I used l-glutamine, slipper elm powder, and ginger root for 30 days. He filled out and stopped being cinchy.

Glutamine is in quite a lot of the OTC supplements. I use some OTC to maintain but, I always treat with omeprazole to start.

one thing to look into for ulcers (both treating and prevention) is a product called Nutrient Buffer by VitaRoyal. It's under $50/gallon and is one of the best and natural type product. You don't need much so the gallon will last. You have a nervous horse or one prone to ulcers, you can keep them on it forever with no adverse side affects

It's in Succeed, which we use as a preventative once we have used Omeprazole to clear up the immediate concern.

Today there are very few true ulcer treatment options, with omeprazole being the primary among them . That said, there are a number of things that you can do to lessen the chances of ulcers returning after you treat. Glutamine is one of the amino acids that seems to help. 18% of the amino acids found in Renew Gold is Glutamine. We do not claim a ulcer cure from this, but do feel that it helps in conjunction with an overall management program for ulcer prone horses.

My horse has hind gut ulcers too, and it seems like they get worse not better when treating the stomach for ulcers with ameprazole after a week or so. Doing some internet research the consensus seems to be that the stopping of the stomach acid makes it worse on the downstream end?, and also that if you suddenly quit ameprazole there is such a thing as the rebound effect and the stomach acid comes back in larger volume or something like that?  So I'm using some of the traditional remedies too (cabbage powder, pumpkin seed oil, probiotics), and smart digest ultra. I just ordered this stuff called Starting Gate granules (https://sbsequine.com/starting-gate-nutritional-granules/).

Stopping the production of acid is an endless battle. You need something that will create the mucous that protects the stomach lining. Omeprazole does nothing for the hind gut either. T.H.E has done vet assisted studies on TB's in race training. The results are amazing. 30 days on GastroPlus had great improvement on some really severe cases. It is also one of the few out there that has positive results on hind gut ulcers as well. I'll attach a list of ingredients and I want to remind everyone that is interested, all THE is 20% off through Dec. We'll call it customer appreciation month
