I ran in my very first barrel race on my dad's cowborse in August of 1959. I won and that began many years of good horses that we raised on our ranch. I learned horsemanship skills from the book SCHOOLING OF THE WESTERN HORSE and barrel racing skills from Jane Mayo's book, BARREL RACING. Books were what we had back then. That is what I remember about the 1950's.

That is still my music of choice today. Elvis Presley performed LIVE on the loading dock of the feed mill here and they had the check that they paid him in the area where you paid ther at the mill. The feed mill burned in the late 1960's.
