I found a new pelleted feed that is $18bag. It seems like it would be really good. It is 14% protein and 6% fat. I really like the natural ingredients in it and wondering what others think about it? I would be feeding with hay.

Ingredient: sun cured alfalfa, whole oats, wheat middlings, coconut meal, whole flax, soy oil.

I am not sure the name. I think it is new. A guy I got some hay from had it at his barn and was feeding it.

What brand of feed is it? Should be a name on the bag.

Pelleted concentrate feeds that have alfalfa as the first ingredient can have an application where very poor quality hay is the only roughage option. If you are feeding poor coastal Bermuda, for example, this feed may be a good choice. Hard to say without a lot more information. If you have access to pretty good hay, feeding a pelleted feed that is primarily alfalfa is just expensive roughage, and you may be better off buying alfalfa in a better, less expensive form. In that case, getting a longer stem roughage like the Omnis cube if you want oats in it, may be better choice than alfalfa in a pellet.
