Location: Ohio girl moved to PA | 4-5 days a week. What we do varies, i try to ride atleast 2-3 miles a day wether it be in the arena doing flat work, trails or sprint/breezing. Or ill just lunge real quick if im pressed for time. We only do pattern work if there is a specific problem/issue that needs fixed. In the summer we swim a lot too. |

| Ride one lead the other and switch off every day. Usually 6 days a week for about 20-30 minutes. Nothing to strenuous OR having any remote resemblance to a barrel race or barrel training. Both finished horses and thats their reward. When they do get to a barrel race they crave it and give me 10000000000% effort each and every time. |

Location: North Dakota | Right now in ND we are stuck inside as we have been in the deep freeze and just got above freezing today for the first time in a month. I ride in the indoor at the barn. It is small but gets the job done. I am riding a 5 year old right now so I just ride till my goal for that day is complete. I have been trying to get on her back 4 times a week. She is mentally a mess and I am attempting to build on each positive day to build her confidence. |

| Right now mine's exercise is walking back and forth from the hay pile to the waterer. They run around when the turkeys and deer get too close for entertainment. LOL
I plan on beginning next week after they get their shots and teeth taken care of. Strive for 4 times a week and one weekend day. |

Location: Southern Indiana | With 3 horses I aim to ride them 3 times a week. Usually for 20-30 minutes. My 2 older horses mostly just get long trotted a loped. My younger horse I do more circle work and barrel work on because he needs it. Right now my goal is atleast once awake until the weather gets better and I donβt have to haul somewhere to ride. |

Location: Texas | I try to ride mine every other day... which sometimes ends up being me riding every day but I switch off who I ride. Some weeks it's chaotic and I don't get to ride near as much as I want.. or I get to the barn and get called out and have to leave.. but I try to stay as consistent as possible. Thankfully I have a very forgiving 4YO who tolerates my schedule. |

| I try to ride everyday or at least as many days a week as weather permits. I don't ever run my horse at home and our barrel practice is at the trot and poles at the lope. I do second guess myself with my riding as I see some of my friends taking their horses during the week and run them so they get tuned up for the weekend, and here I am thinking that I need to save my horse for the weekend and not running him during the week. .... how many of you run your horse during the week and then during the weekend? |

Location: Arkansas | A "typical" week for me is rodeoing Fri/Sat night, so I try and give him Thur and Sun off. I'll ride Mon/Tues/Wed, and usually run a few steers one of those three days. I just feel like roping some keeps his head together (he was a head horse first). |

| Usually Monday off, Tuesday trail ride or just light arena riding, Wed-Fri roping--might take one day to just slow work the barrels or poles. Sat/Sun jackpots. |

| It varies for each horse and what we're working on. In general, I like to ride 4-5 days a week for 20-30 minutes. I think the most important thing is to evaluate each horse and what it needs to remain fit, responsive, and mentally sound. I like to keep things varied so our horses will see arena work, ranch work, walking down the road, etc. |

Location: North Dakota | Normally during the season, we usually are hauling somewhere Saturday and Sunday. I usually like to give them Monday off, then try to ride every day the rest of the week. Although I may give them Friday off if we've got a big weekend again.
So it comes down to "riding" about 5 days a week.
I like to breeze them on Wednesdays. If we don't go somewhere on the weekend, I'll breeze them again on the weekend. I like keeping those "running lungs" in super good shape. I like to do one day of arena work, whether it's drills or reining or English work, and then mostly trail riding 4+ miles the rest of the rides. |

Location: Montana | For my chestnut horse, I try to ride her 4 days a week, including competition (maybe go for 5, if the competition is on Sunday). She is the same horse no matter what, so it isn't a big issue if I ride her every other day, or several days in a row.
Now my grey horse...he does better if I keep riding and working him, so I'm going to have to change my game plan with him. Normally, like others have mentioned, you gave the day before a run off...I don't think I can do that with him because he can get frisky with time off. Nothing bad, but I'll certainly have other things on my mind at a barrel race than dealing with Mr. Frisky, LOL. So he'll probably get ridden 3-4 days, then competition day, then have a day or two off, depending on my schedule and this stupid weather (I wanted to have my horses in some resemblance of shape by now, but 4 foot snow drifts and cold temps aren't helping).
As someone else said, most of their exercise right now is from the shed to the hay pile, LOL. |

Location: Illinois | Depends on the time of year and horse. My goal by the end of spring for my black horse is typically 5 days a week, 2 days 1.25 hours and 3 days 1 hour. He's a bleeder so he gets conditioned a bit harder. At top condition he'll get about 30 minutes of long trotting and 30 minutes of loping. Not all together at once, but variously throughout the workout. I tend to time it by songs if I have my headphones in. My 4 year old is going to start learning the pattern this year so probably just enough riding for her to keep her progressing at a rate good for her. So maybe 4 days a week, but some of those days are just general riding and some barrel work. I have a horse I ride for a friend sometimes that needs a 30 minute mental lope down before you can accomplish anything requiring a mind. Days I have to ride him I don't have time to ride my own, he can take 2-3 hours of my time sometimes. |
