I don't know either how you guys survive those long cold winters in Northern states.  Kansas winters are nothing compared to yours and the light at the end of the tunnel is always near when it does get cold and snowy.

I feel you. We got a foot of snow on Sunday and now we've easily gotten another 3-5 inches since then and it's still coming down. Currently feels like -8 below. I'm SICK. OF. IT. On top of that, I just got back from Clearwater Beach, FL where it was shorts and a tank weather. Take me back to the sunny, 80+ degrees, and humidity!! I'm from GA so I am really missing home right about now. Sending warm thoughts your way!

Meanwhile my husband hauled a load of bucking stock to Tuscon for the week. I think I envy him the authentic Mexican food more than the warm weather. Now that is sad.

I am so tired of it! We move so much snow and within 12/24 hrs it’s piled right back up by the wind or more heavy snows! At least my ponies are getting in shape by running thru belly deep snow :(
Was -20* and now has warmed up to -16*!

Feeling you there wyoming barrel racer. -11 this morning, had about 8 inches of snow over the weekend and we just tied the record for the amount of snow we got in February. If it snows anymore this month we will break it (record is 32.6" for February). Havre, MT, which is about 100 miles north of us has broken the season record for snow with over 70" this season. Although I'm feeling more fortunate because my bf's parents have had over 10' of snow this winter in Idaho. This is one of the worst winters my dad remembers.

We always calve our heifers in January.  This year has been rough-long periods of extreme cold.  We have lots of barn space, and once the calves are dry, they don't seem to mind the cold.  It's more work to make sure they are warm right after they're born, but at least they aren't laying in cold mud.  (This is me trying to find the bright side

We moved our cows back to April and every now and again get a wet snow that only lasts a day or so. Most of them need no help what so ever. But we don't have the barn space for the heifers that are calving. My father in law raises 100 registered sheep/coyote bait...and long story short we don't get the big barn for the calves. So we have to use the horse barn that only has 7 stalls tops.  It makes it tough whe we get a cold storm that sticks around. We pasture foal and wait until May, and even then we have had to bring them to the barn for the late storms. But we don't have bugs 6/7 months out of the year. It's the positives right!

Hmmm, pretty sure I'd prefer a few flies and mosquitoes over long cold winters.

Not that there's anything good about nasty insects.

I was taking some photos of product this morning on the porch... I was sweating... While it was thundering and lightening... We needed rain... Glad it wasn't snow tho... My little one can barely handle 65 degrees and raining. Much less -25 and snowing... LOL

Yep, we're im centra Texas and it's 70's and humid.  Raining also for the next several days. I would freeze up there in the north.
