| 2 Peter 1:3 EVERYTHING that goes into a life of PLEASING God has been miraculously GIVEN to us by getting to KNOW, personally and intimately, the One who INVITED us to God.
My mailbox often fills up with unsolicited catalogs, all touting must have products with instant promises; save time and energy,make life more comfortable, simply, successful,, and secure. Advertisements use the words like , refreshing, perfection, guaranteed and gorgeous.
SERIOUSLY? Those advertisements made me think of a kind of "product' for the Christian life, something that promises to refers, simplify , glamorize, and guarantee a great life of perfection. After all, searching through the Bible we can find derivatives or synonyms of those advertising words, like simple, refreshing , perfect , and blessing. But unfortunately, Jesus offers NO unique inventions to assure success. He suggest NO quick fix products to make life easier. Jesus even uses words like death,, tribulations , and sacrifice repeatedly through Scripture. And He experienced ALL those things HIMSELF. Yes, this life involves dying to self, overcoming harmaful habits, and enduring difficulties and heartbreak, NONE of which we could manage APART from Jesus. But what He OFFERS is FAR BETTER than ANY mail order catalog full of overblown promises. Jesus promises peace, joy, love, hope, freedom,, and security and SO MUCH MORE.... for it is WITH God ALL things ARE Possble.
Father God, guide me today to do all things that wlll bring glory and honor to You AMEN. HAVE A VERY BLESSSED HEART OF JESUS WEEKEND ALL! God LOVES you! And so do I!   |
