| I just bought a little cowbred filly. She's only 14 hh. I don't plan on breeding her anytime soon but enjoy looking into bloodlines. What do you think of hers and any studs you think would cross well with hers? Cow or barrels.

| Love. No advice on the breeding side but we have something in the barn related to each line and enjoy them all. Not all barrel horses, although my good horse a 14.1hh grandson of Dual Pep, he started hitting the 1D some last year. My husbands good heel horse is a Freckles Playboy and heβs cool, although standoffish on the ground - just doesnβt crave contact like the in your pocket types. |

Location: Cocoa, Florida | Iβve had several cutting bred i have used as barrel horses, love their grit and turn, my mare now is just barley 14.3 and thinks sheβs a racehorse she goes back to easy jet but some just have natural speed to chase a cow down.
I like the dual peps they have a lot of talent and turn, freckles playboy are good all around horses also, looks like you have a little bit of everything in there, should have some brains too. You have pics? |

Location: North Dakota | Both freckles playboy horses that I have been around are stand offish like said above. Not cold, just don't need that human contact. They also were strictly work horses too so that could have played a factor. Both of them would go all day and never quit. |

| I've got a little freckles playboy mare and she is awesome. She only has about 45 rides on her and she is broke as an old ranch horse. Very smart and very easy. She is going to be my next heel horse. |

| I have 2 Freckles playboy grand daughters and one great.
The one is a total love bug. She is my horse sole mate
The one double breed docs hickory as well is quite shy but once you make a bond with her shes great to be around and has such nice minded foals. Shes in foal to clayton due in a few months.
Thoes 2 mares are out of daughters of freckles and by sons of pepto. They are so different in every way from looks to additude. But none are standofish. Very smart and keen in their own way
The great grand is a kids horse and gives about 10% less than you ask for ... Shes a great kids horse ??
I quite like your mares breeding, would love to see pictures of her! |

| I love those cowbred horses. Freckles Playboy are one of my favorites. Every one of them I know are athletes!!!!
I have seen cutting bred horses cross well on pretty much anything. I almost bought a firewater finale gelding with a cutting maternal side, he was cool!!! One of the nicest horses I ever rode was crossed on a OTTB, sire was a docs prescription stallion.
I don't think you can really go wrong anywhere.
She is sooo cute!

I have had 3 and I loved them all, my docs solano mare that I have now has some easy jet in the back but she thinks sheβs a race bred horse haha. My docs prescription/peptoboonsmal gelding was super laid back, all weβre very intelligent and super athletic. |

Location: Willows, CA | We showed an own son of Freckles Playboy and he was great minded. I am a real fan of Hickory bred horses. My daughter won the high school national finals on one. In general, they are built to stay sound, and really pretty headed. Most are small like yours. |

| I love the way First Down French crosses on cow bred mares. I've seen a couple and they make it look so easy. Amber Moore has a 5 year old (Just Plain French) who's by FDF and out of a Colonel Freckles/By Yawl/Merridoc mare and I LOVE her. She can flat fly. |

| I really like her papers- Docs Hickory, double bred Freckles Playboy, PSB...
I would breed her to something that can add some size and speed, she already has really good bone.
If you want stallion recommendations, I sure can offer what I would choose. We have a little 4yo filly that looks just about like her, Iβll see if I can add pictures.

Location: LouLouVille, OK | WOWZA! Her pedigree screams ability! With that said, I can't pick a stallion till you know what you want to improve on her... like, more run, more cow (if that's even possible lol) size... all that come into play for me...

Hard to say at the moment... I guess size since if I went any shorter for a stud it would end up being a Shetland pony lol she's so standoffish and such a thinker it's going to be a bit of a challenge to calm her mind down. Fun to ride but boy does she over anticipate everything! I'm torn between keeping it with cow bloodlines or adding some barrels in there. |

| This stud I personally know and if he's still around when the time is right id probably lean towards him.

Then my neighbor has this stud that's she's trying to push me towards but he hasn't proved himself like the stud above, he's a well built palomino but has been a pasture pet his whole life.

Then a favorite of mine. It's a bonus that he's a blue roan

Love cowbreds!!! One of my closest friends owns an own son of HLP---if I needed just one more horse, I'd breed our much loved mare to him. But for now I just admire his offspring. Most are in the cutting arena, but he's had a couple that could turn a barrel pretty dang nicely in our area!
Sorry to get off topic. |
