Question About Snaffles

Just curious, what is the difference between a loose ring and fixed mouthpiece
(more like a D ring
)? Why would you choose one over the other? I recently stopped using a loose ring for a fixed one because the loose ring was pinching the corners of my horses mouth, but I'm not sure what the difference between the two is. Thanks!

D-Rings are hard to pull though the mouth. Snaffles should be hobbled to keep from pulling through the mouth. The more quality of the snaffle the rings shouldn't pinch.

Agreed.
D rings have a slight amount of leverage compared to an o ring. I see it has an o ring being like a slight gag bit and the d ring being more of a leverage bit.
